BHOOP


          Bhoop is a hindusthani classical raga, also called as Bhupali, it is an audava raga, Bhoop belongs to the kalyan thaat. Mohana of the Carnatic classical style is the equivalent raga of Bhoop, the mood of this raga is gambheera and shaanta. Bhoop is an evening raga. In the carnatic style, Mohana is considered to be a derived scale of raga Harikambhoji. Perhaps one of the favorites for film music. Kannada film music has some of the most wonderful compositions based on bhoop.

HAMSADHWANI


          Hamsadhwani is a carnatic classical raga, an audava raga by nature, it is said to be the Janya raga of shankarabharana. Hamsadhwani is also present in the hindusthani classical style and used very prominently. It is supposed to be as sweet as the sound of the swan (hamsa). Many devotional songs are set to hamsadhwani, It is also a favorite raga for the film music composers all over India. There are quite a few melody tracks in the kannada film music based on raga hamsadhwani.

AHIR BHAIRAV


          Ahir Bhairav is a hindusthani classical raga, belonging to the bhairav thaat, this is a combination of a rare raga Ahir and the well known raga Bhairav. It is an early morning raga and an audava raga. Chakravaka of the carnatic classical style is the equivalent raga to Ahir Bhairav. It is also called as Toyavegavaahini. owing to the mood of this raga, there are a number of kannada film songs of bhakthi rasa that are composed in this raga.

BAIRAGI BHAIRAV


          Bairagi Bhairav is a hindusthani classical raga, belonging to the Bhairav Thaat, it is an audava raga predominantly performed in the early morning hours. Bairagi Bhairav is know for its many composition in praise of the lord of destruction - Shiva. In the carnatic classical style, raga Revathi is the equivalent of Bairagi Bhairav. The mood of Bairagi Bhairav or revathi is associated with Roudra / Gambheera. Kannada film music industry has many wonderful compositions that are based on this raga - Bairagi Bhairav.

          Madhumad Saarang is a hindusthani classical raga, also called as Madhmath Saarang or Madhumadhavi Saarang, it is an audava raga. Madhumad Saarang belongs to the Kafi Thaat and is an afternoon raga. Raga Madhyamaavathi of the Carnatic classical style is the equivalent raga of Madhumad Saarang. The Madhyamaavathi raga of the carnatic classical style is regarded as an auspicious raga, and often performed to end a concert like Raga Bhairavi of the Hindusthani classical style. Kannada films have some of the best compositions in Madhumad Saarang

KHAMAAJ



          Khamaaj is a Hindusthani classical Raga, belonging to the Khamaaj thaat this is a raga which finds more usage in the semi classical or light music types like gazhals and thumri. Khamaaj is a late evening raga. The Carnatic classical equivalent of Khamaaj is said to be Harikambhoji. Raga Khamaaj is a Shadav-Sampoorna raaga. It is a raga which can express the mood of Shringara and Viraha. This may be the reason for many Thumris being composed based on raga Khamaaj. Kannada film industry has given many melodies based on Khamaaj which are remembered to this day.
